  1. I really enjoyed Resetting America's table. The information about only the rich can afford healthy food while women, minorities, and low income families shop at wal-mart is appauling. i did not know that New Mexico is the hungriest state. I liked that we can change the way that people eat through education. Reading this article made me want to volunteer somewhere to improve our states eating habits. I agree that it starts at home with out families and educating them. I believe that shopping locally will improve these statistics.

  2. Matias viegener's piece the fallen fruit seems to be an appropriate respone to unattended fruit. it is hard to believe that it is so hard to get neglected fruit to hungry people. The land problems for public farms is ridiculous if there was as much legistation for the appropriation of food and land as for legislation to healthily feed the hungry hunger in America would have already ended.

  3. Jennifer,

Food is a quandry here in America, seeing as we produce plenty of it, we just don't distribute it well. Also, much of what is produced and subsidized by our taxes, is very unhealthy. Change on a local level is appropriate for food. Better even, but large scale change, like the Farm Bill, will have to happen to allow local sources to compete. It is an interesting project to calculate the percentage of your income you spend on food. In Europe it tends to be around 12-14% in America, somewhere under 8%.

  4. chance and change was a great article about poety and change. Some parts that i especially enjoyed were "reality as its own document" change brings chance, without changes no chances, that we are simply incapable of recogniing the multiplicity of variables that are occurring simultaneously and influence the workd we respnd to on a variety of sensory levels." these comments on change encompass many parts of an artists life. An artist tries not to stagnate but to keep growing and experiencing in order to enhance their work. I really liked the poetry part about the world changing him every day. In terms of nature and ecology it think that it is true that science has moved away from discovery and into exploitation. the exploitation of the earth. I liked the the house that was in ruin that nature had taken over " it shows how humanity is transitory, a part of nature.
